4. Rain Policy Information: Playing Rain or Shine

It's Spring, and since there are lots of sports being played in the great outdoors, we thought it would be a good time to talk weather. Please refresh yourself on OSSC's foul weather policy so that you know when (and when not) to play, and how to stay safe.

*Please note that we cannot tell you what the weather is going to be like later in the day, nor can we tell you what weather is like at the specific location you are playing... reports are often wrong and weather can be extraordinarily localized, so just head to the game, regardless of what its doing outside. Once you are there, you are able to make a judgment call with the other captain. Remember, if it is rainy, but not an electrical storm, you are good to PLAY!

Foul Weather Policy:

All OSSC Games go ahead rain or shine (including snow). In the event of severe weather (electrical storms etc) games should immediately be stopped and players should take cover away from open spaces. Wait 15 minutes; if the severe weather passes, continue play. If it does not and the game was in the first half, the game must be re-played. If it was in the 2nd half, then the score at that time of when the game is stopped will count as the final score.

*If a game is re-played, the game will start with the score that was totaled at the time when the game was called. As well, the game length will be the amount of time that was remaining in the original game*.

5. Team Captains: Important Information About Your Team Roster & Waivers

Captains are responsible for inputting ALL of your team mates into your profile online, under Roster Management.  When you enter this roster information, your team mates will automatically be sent an invitation to join your team. When they accept this invitation to play, they will be required to fill out an online waiver (even if they have already done so).  For your team mates to be a sanctioned OSSC player, they must have accepted your invitation AND completed a waiver.

If your players do not have access to the internet, captains can print out a waiver from www.ossc.ca  (click on “Waiver” on the left-hand navigational bar).  All rosters and waivers are due NOW. Teams that do not submit rosters and waivers will receive losses for all of their games.*

*Captains of individual teams (teams made from individual registrants) do not need to complete roster and waiver information as we already have done this on your behalf.

Teams of 2 will run, walk and use OC Transpo to complete the race, while calling family and friends for help, accessing the Internet, and even asking for the assistance of total strangers.

Please be sure to mark "Ottawa Sport & Social" when asked "where you heard about City Chase" during the registration process!

8.   Rule of the Week: Safe Play in Flag Football

Safe Plays: A defender may not step in front of the ball carrier or block a running lane if it has the potential to create an unsafe play. Likewise, an offensive player should not run with their head down, in an attempt to run through the defenders. In other words, incidental contact is inevitable, but players should not be run over. Please use your best judgment.

Recess for Adults...Just Play.
